Despacito is a hit song from Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi along with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It went on to become the most streaming music of that moment within just six months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought an interest to the genre, but also to Latin music as a whole. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in the year 2015. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 predominantly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. Then in 2020 the number was 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. Soon, other artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars such as Drake as well as Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma with Medellin 2019. In 2020, several Reggaeton artists were complaining about the trend of their genre to the mainstream. However, a younger generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to maintain the development. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and various other genres was a typical practice.
