She is the child of Harvey Welker, a Native American Father along with Julie Welker, an African American Mother. Her mother works as a real estate agent while her father is an engineer. She graduated from the Germantown Friends School which is located in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood in 1994. She attended Harvard College, where she obtained a Bachelors in Arts degree. Welker has been happily married for more than 20 years with John Hughes who is a prominent marketing director for Merck Philadelphia. John and Sheila have two children. The couple started an affair during 2014, when they were together. John her husband is four years less than her. Because their relationship was so well-established, they decided to take the next stage. They were married on March 4, 2017. They got married on the 4th of March in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
